Aeroships are ships that fly in the air. They were at first retrofitted ships like caravels and galleons before their designs were changed that had their materials lightened with runic emplacements (putting an enchanted stone on an object) and flew using hydrogen gas-filled and fortified balloons until switching to safer helium.
Aeroships did not overtake sea shipping entirely for a few reasons. 1) Aeroships are rather expensive in terms of construction and fuel and will not be able to made of entirely mundane tech until the 500s. A large part of aeroships are magitek enhanced and do become cheaper over time with replacements. 2) Sea ships can ship much more tonnage than Aeroships can and not worry about sinking. 3) Sea ships could be entirely mundane made, although some had magitek enhancements to make them faster or carry more like aeroships did.
